How Bathsheba Took Back Her Story
We continue our exploration of Bathsheba—not as a passive figure in David’s story, but as a woman stepping into her voice and purpose.
In "What They Never Told You About Bathsheba's Story" [watch here if you missed it: https://gazaroadministries.com/media/?sapurl=LytwNGJxL2xiL21pLys1ajJ4Z3d4P2VtYmVkPXRydWUmcmVjZW50Um91dGU9YXBwLndlYi1hcHAubGlicmFyeS5saXN0JnJlY2VudFJvdXRlU2x1Zz0lMkJkM3EzeHI0], we asked: What happens when someone else’s brokenness distorts how you see yourself? We looked at how Bathsheba’s self-worth may have been shaped by David’s choices—choices that led to loss, shame, and grief. When others project their issues onto us, the mirror we use to evaluate ourselves becomes dirty—smudged with guilt, fear, and confusion. In that haze, we can forget we have the right to see clearly. We can forget we have a choice.
But Bathsheba’s story doesn’t end there.
In this second part, we shift the focus: David’s actions didn’t just impact Bathsheba—they impacted him, and the nation. Yet in the midst of that, Bathsheba reclaims her power. She reminds David of his promise: Solomon will be king.
Here, self-esteem becomes not just a matter of healing, but of courage—of learning to speak up, to disagree, to step out of the shadow of someone else’s narrative.
📖 Read 1 Kings 1 along with 2 Samuel 11–12.
